Godbey DNA Project

As an introduction, I run the Godbey DNA Project at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/godby

DNA has been used in genealogical research since 2000.

Of the four sets of DNA results so far, all match and demonstrate without a doubt that John & William Godbey b. 1750's in Caroline Co., VA are brothers. The Godbeys of Pulaski/Casey Co., KY and Southwest VA & WV descend from these two brothers.

I'm happy to answer any questions regarding DNA or the Project.

I will be watching this. My great grandfather was from the Pulaski Godbey side. The battle of Cloyds mountain was practically on top of the family farm and altho only 14 was sent out to rescue the family cow from hungry troops. He recounted how he had seen a red haired mans head rolling down the hill decapitated in some fashion. From what ive read the hand to hand combat there was some of the most intense of the civil war. 2 future presidents fought in the Battle...Rutherford B Hayes and William McKinley.
